(New Zealand)

Returning to the Nelson Arts Festival after their sell-out show in 2009, Batucada Sound Machine is a dynamic 10-piece group that has captivated audiences at festivals around the world with its raw on-stage energy.
The band’s three-piece samba, reggae percussion line-up and all-star horn section intertwines Brazilian, funk, hip-hop, reggae, afro-beat and Pacific soul influences. Blazing a trail in Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, their breathtaking variety of tempos, timings, beats, styles draws comparisons to Ozomatli and Manu Chao.
‘When a band causes the audience to stamp their feet for an encore… after they just played the encore, it’s pretty obvious their performance was s@#%-hot…’
